As a playwright, producer, director, and filmmaker, Demetrius Truss is committed to storytelling beyond technical proficiency. Rather than pursuing wealth and fame, Truss's approach is guided by three essential principles: integrity, compassion, and excellence. Through his original works, Truss invites audiences to engage with the complex stories of various families, leading them through emotional journeys marked by darkness and resilience.
Faith is always crucial. For Demetrius, faith is integral to his professional productions and personal life philosophy. After experiencing a spiritual awakening and receiving an unexpected letter offering acting classes, he recognized that this was not mere happenstance. Although he explored other fields of study, including computers, business, and music, he ultimately returned to his passion for writing.
After revising his script, He Deserves the Praise, multiple times, Demetrius attempted to bring the production to life on stage, facing numerous financial obstacles and closed doors. This experience led to an epiphany, prompting him to change the title to Keep the Faith, as his faith remained a steady source of comfort during his pursuit of passion. Consequently, his production company, Keep the Faith (KTF) Productions, was established.
Demetrius's mission is to craft content that not only entertains but also resonates with audiences on a profound level, inspiring a journey of self-discovery, healing, and wholeness. As a faith-based production company, KTF seeks to bring the teachings of the Bible to life by leveraging everyday situations as a ministry tool to convey God's Word effectively. The company's portfolio includes productions such as Forgive Me, Another Chance, Picking Up the Broken Pieces, and Through the Hurt and the Pain. With a presence that extends to audiences in Milwaukee, Chicago, Jackson, Mississippi, and Hollywood, California, KTF's influence on the lives of men and women persists long after the final performance.
Demetrius's involvement with KTF has led to numerous opportunities. He became the Theater Ministry Coordinator at Greater New Birth Church in 2009 and joined the Walker Point Center of the Arts board of directors in 2013. In 2016, Demetrius was honored with a plaque from the City of Milwaukee for his community service and commitment to providing exceptional entertainment in the area for over nine years. After relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2016, he graduated from the Nashville Film Institution in 2019. Demetrius has since returned to Milwaukee and is working with his new film company, TRUSS ME FILMS.
